Der Geist der Reise

The Death Railway winds through the jungle of Kanchanaburi, a remnant of Thailand's tumultuous past. Aboard this historic train, the landscapes unfold towards an unexpected encounter with the elephants of Elephant Haven, peaceful giants bathing in the Kwai River.

From Ayutthaya, the ancient Siamese capital with its golden ruins, to the turquoise waterfalls of Erawan where natural pools invite swimming, each stage reveals an authentic face of the kingdom. Bangkok unveils its emblematic temples, from the reclining Buddha of Wat Pho to the Temple of Dawn on the banks of the Chao Phraya, while the alleys of Chinatown filled with incense tell the story of Chinese migrations.

This Thailand of contrasts ends gently on the shores of Koh Samet, a preserved island where white sand meets lush tropical vegetation. A tour that captures the essence of the Land of Smiles, between Khmer heritage, generous nature and Thai way of life.

Welcome and transfer to Ayutthaya

Welcome by our team at the airport, then transfer to Ayutthaya, former capital of the Kingdom of Siam, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Check-in at the hotel for some rest.

After lunch, you set off to discover the historic center of Ayutthaya. You explore in particular the Wat Mahathat, a major temple dating from the late 14th century, famous for the Buddha head entwined in the roots of a tree, which has become one of the symbols of the site.

The visit continues to the Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, a former royal temple and the largest in the ancient capital, recognizable by its elegant aligned chedis that testify to the past grandeur of the kingdom.

Finally, you discover the Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, renowned for its impressive reclining Buddha and its peaceful atmosphere, offering a fine conclusion to this immersion into the heart of Siam's history.

Discovering Kanchanaburi and its surroundings

Departure for the station and boarding around 10:40 on the famous ''Death Railway'' made famous by the story of the film ''The Bridge on the River Kwai'', for approximately 1 hour by train heading West towards the SaiYok region, located 70 km to the west at the end of the railway line.

After lunch, we spend the afternoon at "Elephant Haven". On site, we buy baskets of fruit (not included – approximately 3 euros per basket), treats for the pachyderms.
Early in the afternoon, we enjoy an exceptional moment: bathing with the Elephants! Return at the end of the afternoon to Kanchanaburi.

🌞 Prepare yourself for the afternoon with the elephants.
Plan your swimwear and change of clothes in the morning if you plan to bathe with the elephants in the afternoon.

👕 Easy-to-wear clothing.
Choose easy-to-wear clothing, as there will probably not be a convenient changing cabin on site.

Erawan National Park

KanchanaburiErawan NP

1h60 km

Early morning departure for the national park and the Erawan waterfalls (63 km drive). This national park is home to a superb waterfall extending over 7 levels, forming natural pools with emerald blue waters inhabited by Mahseer barbs. If you prefer to stay around the 3 first levels, which are the easiest to access, and swim there, a climb to the 7th level, though not difficult, is rewarding: La Phu Pha Erawan, with the final waterfall being the most majestic site in the area.

Free afternoon. Possibility of kayaking (optional). Day accompanied by an English-speaking guide.

The "Venice of the Orient"

KanchanaburiBangkok

2h15125 km

Then, on foot, you reach Wat Pho, one of Bangkok's oldest temples, renowned for its peaceful atmosphere and elegant pavilions. You discover the impressive reclining Buddha, an iconic figure of the place, as well as the inner courtyards punctuated by stupas and refined decorative details.

Then, you cross the river aboard a small boat to reach Wat Arun, the famous "Temple of Dawn", standing on the right bank. Upon arrival, you admire its spectacular central prang, finely decorated with porcelain mosaics and floral motifs that shimmer in the light.

Private traditional long-tail boat ride on the Chao Praya river, one of the most important in the country. Discover the Venice of the Orient and the traditional life of the inhabitants of this city, half of whom still live on the water.

Visit to Wat Traimit or the Temple of the Golden Buddha, and the small but very interesting Yaowarat Chinatown Heritage Museum, which traces the history of Chinese immigration to Bangkok.

Day accompanied by an English-speaking guide.

Suggestion: In the evening, you can stroll freely through the Chinese quarter, wandering through the alleys brimming with shops of all kinds. Early in the evening, the night market sets up on Yaowarat Road and its adjoining lit alleyways that give new life to the neighborhood. You will find all sorts of Thai and Chinese specialties for dinner.

Le nord est plus frais de novembre à janvier, tandis que les plages du sud sont idéales de décembre à avril. La saison des pluies (juin-octobre) offre des paysages verdoyants et moins de touristes, avec des averses courtes et intenses.
